Operation: Sea Gate

Operation Sea Gate was an expedition in cooperation with Dr. Matthew Forest, from Scripps Institute of Oceanography, Saruhén Avila Moreno of Comisión Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas from the Mexican Government, and seasoned specialty diver and guide, Dale Pearson. The primary objective of the op was to identify and map several undocumented hydrothermal vents within a restricted area of operation. These specific hydrothermal vents had never been officially documented or examined and the UET (Underwater Exploration Team) component of the PDW Field Team set out to assist in identifying these geological entities and gathering samples for further laboratory research. This academic and more research-based field work is a legacy component of who we are, and an integral part of our brand’s various missions. PDW plans on continuing to explore and contribute in field research with our Field Team. Not only does this work add to the world’s knowledge base and contributes to the advancement of science, it also allows us ideal contexts to adequately test and vett our gear in a variety of different biomes.
