Audax-OTF - Dark Gray
Latin adjective meaning "bold, daring, courageous".
Precision machined with our distinct and recognizable aesthetic and styling; characteristic of a purpose driven, lifelong design direction and ethos. This OTF features a classic American clip point blade silhouette, ergonomic arcs, and the purposeful fluting and texturing of the modern machine age as found in high grade tools to precision barrels. The Audax features a fully contoured, type III hard anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle, titanium billet pocket clip, GID inlaid slider, and internal lanyard pin. The action uses coil springs placed in linear orientations for a rapid blade deployment (and retraction) when seconds count. Coming in at a mid-sized 3.5" blade length, the Audax is a high standard automatic for users that need speed and quick blade accessibility when on the job and on duty.

This is, by far, the best OTF in my collection. Super snappy, excellent fit & finish and surprisingly solid.R
When my early Christmas present to myself arrived I very eagerly opened the Audax box up...no need to wrap.
What happily surprised me first was this wasn't just some "knife in a box". The Audax comes inside a zippered pouch which also includes a cleaning cloth. My first order of business then, of course, was to try it out. It was at this point that I became concerned as the blade came out only half-way and would not retract. I manually pulled the blade out to reset and tried again with the same results. After performing this maneuver several times, the deployment mechanism began to loosen up and perform as it should with the satisfying "snick" sound and the blade being firmly seated.
I found the Audax to have a "stiff" deployment system meaning that you are very unlikely to ever suffer any accidental deployments which is a plus in my book. If I had a "complaint" my only one would be that after two weeks of constant pocket wear the finish on the pant-clip is starting to come off but I suppose that is to be expected and is certainly not a deal-breaker for me.
Overall, I would rate the Audax as EXCELLENT with same now being a part of my EDC kit especially given it's fit, finish, performance and price point.
Side Note: Is there any possible chance that PDW will ever offer this with a tanto point?
Thank you for your review Robert. And yes, we have been considering a tanto blade variant, but haven't quite greenlighted this yet.C
The Audax feels sokid and appears to be very well made. Action has a satisfying snikt, and materials are all soec'd nicely. Love the little touches like the GITD on the switch, the solid clip and the end was very nicely done (as I like the option of capping the wnd witb my thumb). Honestly haven't cut anything yet as I'm still fidgeting with it, but sure it will be just as satisfying.M
I bought a couple of OTFs for my birthday month and I have to say that the Audax is probably the most underrated OTF on the market. For the price you get a lot of features and the esthetics that Patrick and PDW are known for. Once the knife is deployed the play seems like a lot less compared to the other brands in my collection (I understand there needs to be some play for the double action to work but the play on the Audax is way above par). For just under $300 you cannot deny the value you get from this Audax with a premium M390 Bohler blade its unquestionable. The GITD marker is also a feature you don't see in a majority of other OTFs out there. The Audax it's definitely my current favorite right now. PDW could have charge a lot more for this product but I'm definitely glad they didnt. Thanks to Patrick and the Crew!
