Overview
The Beast Master LT is a lighter weight, highly breathable, insulating full zip mid-layer made with Polartec® Shearling ThermalPro® Retro Pile fleece milled in the USA. This variant features a lighter weight shearling pile fleece that is 9oz per square yard and is dialed for active pursuits in cool temps and transitional weather. This is the lightest pile fleece model from PDW and the "Beast Master" series features a zippered chest pocket.

The distinct appearance of this fleece is a direct descendant of some of the original pile fleece jackets that first hit the alpine and mountaineering circles in the late 1970s and early 80s. The properties of this fleece traps warm air to insulate, especially when worn under a shell. The Beast Master LT is literally cut from a different cloth. You know who you are. Beast Master LT

The design inspiration is drawn from the classic alpine styles that ushered in the era of performance synthetic fleece in the outdoor market. This Polartec® double Shearling ThermalPro® is made with 100% recycled polyester, warm, quiet, exceptionally comfortable and will be the last of the American made Retro Pile fleece from Polartec. The Beast Master LT is for those who blaze their own trails, make their own way, are most at home where the wild things are.

EDC

Designed for the wilderness, when the seasons begin to change and the days become crisp and cool. From our inception, PDW's designs consistently consider the wearer's EDC. In additional to handy inside stash pocket for gloves to keeping batteries warm, the Beast Master series also feature a zippered chest pocket made from our Guide Cloth.

the Design

PDW is known worldwide for its longest running output of morale patches since our company's Founder introduced this genre of accessories to the market as we now know it. So of course, most of our fleece mid-layer designs all feature a loop panel to attach your favored morale patch of the day. In addition to the expected hand pockets, PDW also features zippered sleeve pockets, something our Founder also introduced and popularized to modern technical fleece jacket designs. Why sleeve pockets? The origins for these pockets was so storage of the wearer's EDC items could still be accessed when even wearing a pack, plate carriers, or other LBE that might obstruct access to the more traditionally placed hand pockets on the jacket body. 

Extras

It's the carefully considered extras that uniquely define the PDW design ethos. Most all of our technical apparel styles feature built-in dummy cords. What's a "dummy cord"? It's length of cordage or webbing attached to a garment, that allows the user to securely anchor an EDC tool, like a pocket light or knife to keys, to prevent accidental loss.

If killing the yeti means I get this jacket it's worth it.

I have been curious about PDW for a bit and wanted a fleece jacket. I was initially looking at triple aught design but during my research I had found out that they are related to each other and TAD didn't have the shagmaster in stock. So I took a chance. So far the fit has been great and the warmth has been exactly what I want. With the temperature dropping in the Pacific Northwest I can't wait to take this to it's limit and use it as a mid layer for the lower temps.

I’m 5”8. 155 and a medium for with enlighten room to layer if I want but perfect without

Now if the weather would just cooperate and not be a billionty degrees...

The jacket is the same great quality I've come to expect from Prometheus... the biggest problem I have is waiting for winter weather to kick in.

It's got a unique look that I appreciate, and I really like the thumbholes in the sleeve - i do worry about how to keep the surrounding areas around the thumbhole clean, but I'll cross that bridge when i get there.
