Updated and
Upgraded

The invention and introduction of the magnetic compass transformed the known world. Unreliant on batteries or circuit boards, a magnetic compass is the directional navigation tool in its most distilled and purest form.

Tooless
Change-Out

Another significant update is the ability to change out the compass element effortlessly and without any tools. Swap out button compasses as needed, or for the optional thermometer.

Optional
Thermometer

Shown here with our optional thermometer. Easy to swap out with compass at will. No tools required.

Split
Back

The new split back design allows for the mounting of these to closed-loop type watch bands like the Marine Nationale Para variety. And of course these will slide over your standard NATO type bands as well.

4 Silicone
Carriers Included

In addition to compatibility with a number of nylon-centric watch bands, our Expedition Watch Band Compass Kit 2.0 now also includes all 4 colors of silicone carriers. Change out the differently colored carriers to your liking or needs. The gray, OD green, and orange feature UV inhibitors to prevent fading and the 4th is glow-in-the-dark.

Built for
Adventure

The EWBCK 2.0 is your first and last piece of personal nav equipment. Compact and easily worn on NATO and MN Para type watch bands, or on your equipment with the included silicone carriers. Always know your heading, in any environment. Our design process to create this modern classic drew inspiration from similar compass units used and worn by UDTs, Combat Swimmers, Explorers, and Adventurers from different era. No batteries required, ever.

Multiple
Carry Options

These can be girth hitched to your pack's webbing straps, D-rings, sternum straps and more.

Reliable Legacy

The invention and introduction of the magnetic compass transformed the known world. Unreliant on batteries or circuit boards, a magnetic compass is the directional navigation tool in its most distilled and purest form.

Very well-built, but it rattles (4.5/5)

Fit and finish are second to none, but there is a problem - the thing rattles and makes a noise whenever you move your wrist rapidly (see video), not exactly good when you're trying to be quiet in the field.

Edit: It's not the external casing as PDW suggested in their reply, but the actual compass unit itself - the round part rattles as it floats in the liquid against the clear crystal, and taping it to the bottom of the casing does little to dampen anything

Edit 2: Bumping up the review score since it rattles less than my rifle.

Zachary, this 'rattling' can be so very easily addressed by adding a small piece of electrical tape on the bottom of the buttom compasss unit itself. The Japense made button compass units have the greatest degree of variables in overall dimensions and we machined these to fit the outside spec range of these. That said, it's a no-brainer mod! Give it a try. :-)

Ah ha, noted on the internal rattle. Those compass units are buiult fo rus in Japan and come as they are. Not many sources for button compasses that are rated to 100M, if you know if another supplier that makes a rattle proof unit pls let us know!

Great.

Almost faultless in it directions, just wish the north pointer had a dab of highly glowing orange on it. No fault on the design at all.

Niffty and a well thought out practical design.

Can’t fault it yet!
