Overview

While we can use to great effect and marvel at the products of our digital age, there is still something substantial to be respected, acknowledged and said for analog and mechanical devices. The invention and introduction of the magnetic compass transformed the known world. Unreliant on batteries or circuit boards, a magnetic compass is the directional navigation tool in its most distilled and purest form. Our design process to create this modern classic drew inspiration from similar units as used and worn by UDTs, Combat Swimmers, Explorers and Adventurers from a different era. No less relevant today as it was yesterday, a compass that only needs the earth’s magnetic field to operate and is a tried and trued navigational device for anyone who spends time in the field.

Another significant update is the ability to change out the compass element effortlessly and without any tools. Swap out button compasses as needed, or for the optional thermometer.

Back

The new split back design allows for the mounting of these to closed-loop type watch bands like the Marine Nationale Para variety. And of course these will slide over your standard NATO type bands as well. 

4 Silicone
Carriers Included

In addition to compatibility with a number of nylon-centric watch bands, our Expedition Watch Band Compass Kit 2.0 now also includes all 4 colors of silicone carriers. Change out the differently colored carriers to your liking or needs. The gray, OD green, and orange feature UV inhibitors to prevent fading and the 4th is glow-in-the-dark.

  • Compass: Oil Filled with an Acetyl Cellulose Body
    • Note that oil filled compasses of any type may have tiny bubbles appear and disappear over time. This is a natural result of changes in altitude and barometric pressure in your area of use. These tiny bubbles, if they do appear, do not affect the accuracy or function of the your compass in any way. 
  • Carrier Body: Silicone with UV Inhibitors or Glow-in-the-Dark Pigment

I'll just buy another one

Dropped a watch from waist height with the compass on the band, now the compass dial is bent and doesn't really spin as accurately anymore.

Expedition Watch Band Compass Kit 2.0 - PVD

This compass is well made and the Ti case with PVD coating looks great. I put it on the NATO strap for my Seiko Darth Tuna so the color and finish work well. It is OK for getting a general direction, but not any detailed navigation either on land or underwater. In general I like it.
