SPD X Strider SMF Frogskin-Mythosaur
1 review
Our 2024 May the 4th Strider release, the Special Projects Division SMF Frogskin Mythosaur. Making these required over 4 hours of laser etching work per knife. This edition features our WWII era Frogskin Camo, a Mandalorian Mythosaur sigil on the blade, "KEEP YOUR WITS SHARP AND YOUR BLADE SHARPER" motto on the framelock side, and our SPD Kraken Trident logo is etched into the pocket clip.
So, with this being my very first Mick Strider knife, I now understand the following he’s built! Combine that with the Special Projects Division treatment from PDW, and you’re in for one helluva special knife! This thing is as hard-use as I can imagine there being while still folding and fitting into most pockets. Absolutely no blade play when in the forward locked position…in fact the lockup is so tight that you may need two hands to release the frame lock until it breaks in a bit. The Magnacut blade on my sample had an excellent edge on it.
All that praise rightfully heaped upon it, I will say I came away a bit disappointed with the presentation of a nearly $1,000 knife. It was without a case, soft or hard, a patch, lanyard, or even a sticker or box…simply wrapped in brown craft paper. While not every knife OEM will go the Apple-like presentation route that say Chris Reeve Knives does, but this was the extreme other end of the spectrum.
